1981 Moto Guzzi LeMans CX-100

So how do you restore yet not restore a motorcycle?   Good question.   A very good customer of mine brought this roller to me as well as several boxes of parts that went with it and I was able to ascertain that it was quite complete missing only maybe two or three parts.   He asked me to bring this little beauty back to life, except there was to be little or no restoration at all.   Okay I was curious, just exactly what do you want me to do with this classic?   After a long discussion over lunch, Russell, the owner of this old "Goose", made it clear that he wanted it to be mechanically sound, to make sure that everything works the way it's supposed to, to make sure that it was in better condition then when he last ran it twenty years ago but no painting or replating of any parts was to be allowed although cleaning and polishing was encouraged.   I did talk him into some minor refinishing, bead blasting of the engine components was okay which was a huge relief for me since I had to tear down and rebuild the engine bringing it back to specifications which is a whole lot easier with properly prepped parts.   (I would have refused to rebuild the engine otherwise.)   New components were allowed, tune up parts replacement rubber pieces, cables, in other words, maintenance items.   Wow, cool, a restoration that isn't.   I'll update this rebuild over the next few weeks and show you the results of my labor with Russell's input.
